The Postcard Project

Just to Remind You of My Love”

When personal records are lost, or never within reach to begin with, how do we find (or make) new ones?

This porcelain tapestry consists of 90 hand-painted paper-thin replicas sewn together, derived from a collection of over 1400 postcards belonging to my grandmother. Selected postcards show correspondence to and from the women of our family. The contents of the cards and making of this project speak to the importance of care and dedication, and to the significant function of object as emotional archive.
